Challenge                                                                                                                                                        To showcase the caliber and quality of HHMI medical research efforts during a rare peek behind the curtain for the highest echelons of the scientific community, inviting them to tour its Sterling, VA Janelia Farms campus.

Insight                                                                                                                                                      When launching a new facility or institution, our approach is to find ways to help guests discover its impact.  Feats turned the normally closed campus into a scientific showcase, with multimedia stations and video tours that gave dynamic and engaging overviews of the work in development at HHMI.  The unique open house was followed by an intimate evening event designed to foster personal interaction among some of the greatest minds in science, including a number of Nobel laureates.

Impact                                                                                                                                                     Private made public.  Nearly 2,500 people attended, clearly demonstrating the science community’s interest in HHMI and its work.  “…Feats helped turn the Janelia Farm opening into something truly special.  Feats made us bolder than we would have ever been on our own,” offered HHMI Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs, Avice Meehan.
